Southampton and Arsenal are two clubs famed for their history of top young talent. Whilst in the last decade it has been a case of The Gunners snapping up Saints youngsters, it seems times have changed.
The south coast club have confirmed the signing of 17-year-old Nathan Tella, after he spent ten years with the Gooners.
The winger, who has been on trial at Southampton’s Staplewood academy, scoring on his debut for the U18s a couple of weeks ago, has said he is keen to start a ‘new chapter’ on the south coast.
Saints manager Claude Puel has a track record of developing young players, having worked with the likes of Eden Hazard and Thierry Henry, as well as handing plenty of players their chances at St. Mary’s.
Since the former Nice boss took over from Ronald Koeman the likes of James Ward-Prowse, Josh Sims, Sam McQueen and Jack Stephens have all impressed in taking their games to the next level.
