It may be the international break, which sees Premier League football leave our screens for a weekend, however, Southampton fans still have something to celebrate.

Thursday saw Saints record breaking summer signing, Sofaine Boufal, take part in his first full training session with the senior squad.

The 23-year-old, who scored 15 goals in 51 appearances for Lille, joined the South Coast side from the French outfit for a club record £16m fee over the summer.

Not only did the Morrocan winger make his first appearance but fan favourite, Jay Rodriguez return to action after a hernia stalled his full-return to the first team, which has taken over two years.

The one-cap England international was enjoying his best ever season before he picked up a cruciate injury in 2014 which saw him miss over a year of football, before an ankle injury ruled him out of yet another season last term.

Having sold the likes of Graziano Pelle and Saido Mane, the Saints got off to a slow start this season, until Charlie Austin hit form, scoring five goals in four outings, however, manager Claude Puel will be encouraged by the return of Rodriguez as well as Boufal making his entrance.

The St Mary’s faithful have also been voicing their delight at the news on Twitter…
