Southampton will reportedly reject any offers for Netherlands international defender Virgil van Dijk during the forthcoming January transfer window, according to The Telegraph.
The Premier League side, who currently sit seventh in the English top-flight standings heading into Christmas after defeating AFC Bournemouth 3-1 at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday, are poised to receive interest in the in-form centre-half from league rivals next month.
The 25-year-old, who has 12 international caps for his country, has scored two goals in 24 appearances in all competition for The Saints so far this season.
Van Dijk, who arrived at St Mary’s Stadium back in September 2015 following his reported £13m switch from Scottish Premiership champions Celtic, is thought to be on both Manchester United and Manchester City’s radar in the New Year.
Having only signed a new six-year contract with Claude Puel’s side back in May, it is now estimated that the defender is valued at the £40m mark.
