Southampton have reportedly slapped a £45m price tag on Netherlands international star Virgil van Dijk, according to Squawka.
The Premier League side, who defeated AFC Bournemouth 3-1 at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday to head into the Christmas break in seventh spot in the English top-flight table, are poised to receive interest in their in-form centre-back during the forthcoming January transfer window.
The 25-year-old, who has 12 international caps for his country, has scored two goals in 24 appearances in all competitions for The Saints so far this season.
Van Dijk, who arrived at St Mary’s Stadium back in September 2015 following his reported £13m switch from Scottish Premiership champions Celtic, is said to be a target for Chelsea, Everton, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United in the New Year market.
However, Southampton boss Claude Puel is determined to keep hold of the Dutchman, with the club hoping his £45m valuation will ward off his potential suitors next month.
