Southampton to battle Man United, Liverpool and Euro giants for midfielder

Southampton are ready to battle top Premier League and European clubs in order to land a deal for sought after Atalanta midfielder, Franck Kessie, according to Calciomercato.

The Italian reports claim that Claude Puel, who watched his side topple Italian giants Inter Milan on Thursday night, is ready to ‘get close’ to the Serie A side’s €15m valuation of the defensive midfielder.

However, they will face a huge battle with some of Europe’s top clubs to land the 19-year-old.

Premier League trio Man United, Liverpool and Man City have all also been linked with a move for the youngster.

The English sides will, though, all have to trump Serie A champions, Juventus, who are chasing Kessie and it is believed he has his heart set on a move the the Juventus Stadium, as he wants to stay playing in Italy.

The rumours of a move to St. Mary’s show intent from the South Coast club but it will be quite the coup should they beat the above clubs to a deal in January.
