After a last gasp defeat at the Emirates Stadium last week, Southampton will be looking to make home advantage count and pick up their first win of the league season.

On the other hand, Swansea City will be hopeful of putting in a solid display as they look to bring the positives from their display against Chelsea to St Mary’s.

Claude Puel’s men approach the fixture off the back of a win in the Europa League, which will no doubt spark some confidence in the lead up to this game.

A 3-0 win over Czech powerhouse Sparta Prague certainly allows manager Puel to ease into his new role and use the performance as the catalyst to start winning games.

Saints fans will be curious to see whether Nathan Redmond and Shane Long can contribute some more goals up front, while Dusan Tadic can provide some much needed craft and creativity in behind.

Swansea also come into the game feeling positive after they fought back to draw at home against a strong Chelsea side last week.

Dutchman Leroy Fer was amongst the goals once again as he continues his strong start to the campaign, as he seems to be a completely different player after stagnant spells with QPR and Norwich City respectively.

This could be the week whereby new-man Fernando Llorente opens his account for the new campaign as the striker has put in some promising performances in recent weeks.

Team News:

Defender Florin Gardos still remains a long-term casualty for the Saints, while Sofiane Boufal is a doubt for the game as he is lacking match fitness.

The only concern for the Swans is that Borja Baston may feature on Sunday as he is lacking sufficient match fitness also.
