Southampton are reportedly set to make a move for England international striker Daniel Sturridge, according to the Telegraph.

The Premier League side, who have slipped down to 14th spot in the table following three defeats in their last four league outings, have been linked with a loan deal for the out of favour Liverpool forward during the January transfer window.

The 28-year-old, who has 26 international caps for his country, has scored three goals and provided three assists in 14 appearances in all competitions for the Reds so far this season.

Sturridge, who arrived at Anfield back in January 2013 following his £12m move from rivals Chelsea, has netted 64 times in 133 games overall for the Merseyside outfit, but is yet to lift any silverware with the club.

The Three Lions striker has started just five Premier League fixtures under manager Jurgen Klopp this term, leaving The Saints hopeful they will allow Sturridge to leave Anfield on loan until the end of the 2017-18 campaign in a bid to be included in England’s 2018 World Cup squad next summer.
