Southampton’s ideal XI following the January window

Norther Ireland captain Steven Davis is one of the most underrated midfielders in the Premier League.

The 32-year-old has been at Southampton since 2012 when he made the move south of the border from Rangers, and he has been a regular feature in the Saints team ever since, appearing in 135 of their 152 Premier League games in the four seasons preceding this one.

Davis was a key part of the side that beat Liverpool over two legs in the League Cup semi-final in the last few weeks, and his ability to keep things simple in the middle of the park, but also contribute both defensively and offensively, is of great benefit to manager Puel.

He’s the sort of player every manager wants in their side.
