Southampton midfielders Nathan Redmond and James Ward-Prowse could be in line to make their international debuts next week after receiving their first-ever senior England call-ups.

Winger Redmond, 23, has scored six goals in 38 appearances in all competitions for The Saints so far this season, whilst team-mate Ward-Prowse, 22, has found the back of the net twice in 33 games.

Elsewhere, Sunderland striker Jermain Defoe has been recalled to the Three Lions squad by manager Gareth Southgate, over three years after his last international outing (vs Chile, November 2013).

The 34-year-old, who has impressively scored 14 times in 27 Premier League outings for rock-bottom Sunderland, has netted 19 times in 55 appearances for his country.

In addition, there is a surprise inclusion for West Brom midfielder Jake Livermore, who made his England debut against Italy back in August 2012, but has not made another appearance since.

Southgate’s men face Germany in an international friendly on March 22, before playing Lithuania at Wembley Stadium for their 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier on March 26.
