Chelsea have reportedly won the race to land Netherlands international defender Virgil van Dijk this summer, according to The Sun.
The Premier League side, who defeated Everton 3-0 at Goodison Park on Sunday to preserve their four-point lead at the top of the standings, have been continuously linked with a move for the Southampton centre-half ahead of the 2017-18 campaign.
The 25-year-old, who has 12 international caps for his country, has scored four goals in 30 appearances in all competitions for The Saints so far this season.
Van Dijk, who is still recovering from an ankle injury he sustained back in January, was also said to be attracting interest from Premier League rivals Arsenal.
However, the report suggests Antonio Conte’s Blues are favourites to sign the £50m-rated Dutchman, who arrived at St Mary’s Stadium back in September 2015 from Scottish Premiership champions Celtic.
That is despite Van Dijk being offered a contract worth around £150,000-a-week at the Emirates Stadium.
It is understood that Southampton will sign fellow defender Andreas Christensen, who has been on loan at Borussia Monchengladbach, in some capacity, as part of the deal.
