Leicester City are reportedly weighing up a sensational summer swoop for Portugal international William Carvalho, according to The Sun on Sunday.

The Premier League side, who currently sit top of the English top-flight standings and could clinch the 2015/16 title at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon if the Foxes defeat Manchester United, are eyeing a big money move for the Sporting Lisbon star should they sell N’Golo Kante in the near future.

The 24-year-old, who has 17 international caps for his country, has scored three goals and provided two assists in 33 appearances in all competitions for the Liga NOS outfit so far this season.

Carvalho; who has been regularly linked with moves to Premier League rivals Arsenal and Manchester United in the past, has been identified by Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri as an ideal replacement for defensive midfielder Kante, who is attracting interest from a host of European giants following his incredible term at the King Power Stadium this campaign.

The report suggests that Sporting will demand at least £20m for their Portuguese prized asset, meaning Leicester would smash their own club-record transfer fee, which still stands at the £9m they splashed out on Andrej Kramaric last January from Rijeka.
