Tottenham Hotspur required a late own goal to rescue a point against Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.

The Seagulls raced into an early 2-0 lead courtesy of goals from Yankuba Minteh and Yasin Ayari at The Amex, but Brazilian striker Richarlison continued his fine run of form by finding the net just before the break to halve Spurs’ deficit.

Brighton looked set to hold on and secure all three points until defender Jan Paul van Hecke put through his own net to level things up, earning Thomas Frank’s side a point.

The Dane has enjoyed a relatively impressive start to life in North London, having taken charge of Spurs over the summer.

In total Tottenham have won four of their seven matches so far this term, and away from the action it appears that Frank is pushing the club to sign a highly rated midfielder

As per Fichajes via GiveMeSport, Frank is keen for Spurs to sign midfielder Morten Hjulmand from Portuguese side Sporting CP.

It is claimed that the Lilywhites are intending to table an offer in the region of £52 million for the Dane next year, although it isn’t yet clear whether the offer will be submitted in January or at the end of the current campaign.

Hjulmand, 26, is the current captain of the Portuguese champions and has made more than 100 appearances for the club since joining from Italian side Lecce back in 2023.

The Denmark international is under contract in Lisbon until the summer of 2028, but the report claims that Spurs will attempt to lure the midfielder to London at some point next year.

Manchester United were linked with a move for the player over the summer, with head coach Ruben Amorim having worked with the player during his time with Sporting.

The Portuguese champions were reluctant to sell the holding midfielder, though, having already allowed talismanic forward Viktor Gyokeres to depart to join Arsenal.
