Tottenham Hotspur chief Jose Mourinho has spoken to Manchester City’s Joao Cancelo over a possible move to London, according to reports.

The 25-year-old moved from Juventus to the Etihad to £60million last summer but has made just 13 starts in all competitions as he’s had to compete with Kyle Walker for a place at right-back.

And El Desmarque report that Mourinho has communicated with his fellow Portuguese in an attempt to bring him to the capital.

Mourinho is reportedly eyeing January signings.

It’s claimed that Cancelo, who spent one season with Juventus, wants more playing time and that a move to Spurs would offer him that.

Barcelona are also thought to be interested but it’s thought Tottenham are close to agreeing a £51.2million deal with Man City.

The signing of Cancelo would bolster Mourinho’s options at right-back with Serge Aurier the only natural senior player in that position.

Youngster Japhet Tanganga has been deployed there in the last two matches but, despite impressing, he is a centre-back by trade.
