Tottenham Hotspur’s season is in something of a crisis with just under a month of the season remaining, with a 3-1 defeat to Manchester United on Sunday the latest in a series of disappointing results for Jose Mourinho’s side.

The result means that it will be increasingly impossible for Spurs to finish in the top-four this season and, having already been eliminated from the Europa League, they may face a season without European football next term.

Spurs’ poor form has fuelled talk once again of Harry Kane’s future, with The Athletic reporting recently that the England captain will ask for a move away from the club in the summer.

It is now being reported that Mourinho will look to re-sign one of his former players, in a bid to bolster his options for next season.

According to The Sun, the Portuguese will approach former Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini, who played under Mourinho at Manchester United.

Fellaini spent six years at Old Trafford.

The Belgian midfielder was highly admired by Mourinho during their time together at Old Trafford, and could be tempted by the prospect of a reunion in the Premier League with Spurs.

Fellaini, 33, has been playing in China for Shandong Taishan since departing United in 2019, but his club are reportedly open to the idea of letting him go.

During their time together, the pair won the Europa League and EFL Cup.

The midfielder, who previously spent five years at Everton, is reportedly open to the prospect of a Premier League return, and may be an attractive option as a free transfer.
