Spurs search for a new manager was dealt a huge blow as Ajax boss Erik Ten Hag decided to extend his contract at the 34-time Eredivisie champions.

The North Londoners have been in the hunt for a new manager since they sacked Jose Mourinho on the 19th April and are currently under the guidance of former midfielder Ryan Mason.

It started well for Mason as Spurs came back from behind to beat Southampton 2-1, however, after a disappointing performance against Manchester City in the League Cup final, a need for a new voice is abundantly clear.

Ten Hag’s rejection is a huge blow for Tottenham as the Dutchman has proven to be a very talented developer of players having overseen players such as Matthijs De Ligt and Frenkie De Jong at Ajax.

However, his snub of Spurs advances mean they will need to look elsewhere and, according to the Daily Mail, they are trying desperately to convince Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers to move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Leicester are currently in third position in the Premier League.

The former Swansea City and Liverpool boss was described as “outstanding” by Gary Neville, after guiding the Foxes to the FA Cup Final.

They are also in an excellent position to qualify for the Champions League for the first time since their fairytale Premier League title winning campaign in the 2015/16 season, as they are in third position seven points from fifth placed West Ham.

Rodgers has turned down Spurs before according to the Daily Mail, but it appears that has not dissuaded the North Londoners who are continuing on a charm offensive to bring the Northern Irishman to the capital.
