Talks are progressing between Tottenham Hotspur and Fiorentina over a loan move that would see Sofyan Amrabat join the Premier League side for the remainder of the season.

According to The Evening Standard, Spurs are working hard to secure a deal for the midfielder before next week’s deadline.

Current Lilywhites stars Tanguy Ndombele, Dele Alli and Giovani Lo Celso are all able to depart the club before the window slams shut next month, and Antonio Conte is therefore keen to bolster his midfield options in case all three leave.

Amrabat, a Moroccan international, had been a regular for the Serie A side last term but has since fallen out of favour, and hasn’t started a league match since October.

Amrabat is currently representing Morocco at AFCON

In total, the 25-year-old has played just 215 minutes of league football, meaning that the Italian side would likely be willing to let him leave.

At present, Conte has primarily used Oliver Skipp, Harry Winks and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in midfield, so Amrabat would add much needed depth for the Italian, who lost his first league game of his Spurs tenure against Chelsea on Sunday.

Amrabat played 90 minutes for Morocco on Tuesday night as they cruised through to the quarter finals of the African Cup of Nations thanks to a 2-1 victory over Malawi.

A Dutch native, the midfielder has also had spells with Feyenoord, Hellas Verona and FC Utrecht during his career.
