There are Netflix series less dramatic than a Tottenham Hotspur transfer saga.

Any transfer deal involving Spurs, albeit player or manager, should come with warning instructions – prepare for the long haul they should say.

The likes of Dimitar Berbatov, Luka Modric, Gareth Bale and now, Harry Kane, will be able to tell you how tricky negotiating with Spurs is.

Daniel Levy’s reputation as one of the toughest negotiators in the footballing world is highly regarded, and it is very rare for a player to leave Spurs without the chairman getting the exact transfer fee he wants.

Levy is allegedly demanding £160 million for the England captain, and the story is far from over.

However, Spurs could also make a shock move for Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho according to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo.

Coutinho’s move to the Nou Camp has been a disaster.

The Catalans are desperately looking to raise funds amid their crippling financial issues since the Coronavirus pandemic.

They are looking to shift some of their highest earners, and Coutinho is allegedly one of the stars they will be willing to sacrifice.

The former Liverpool midfielder became one of the most expensive players on earth when he moved to the Nou Camp in a deal worth a staggering £142 million in January 2018.

However, the move has not worked out well for Coutinho or for Barcelona, and both parties appear to be looking for a parting of ways.

The Brazilian has been banished to the Barcelona peripheries, only making 12 La Liga appearances for Ronald Koeman’s side last season and being shipped out on loan to Bayern Munich the previous campaign.
