Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of a top four spot took a blow on Saturday as they were beaten 4-0 by Newcastle United.

The Lilywhites arrived at St. James’ Park in fourth place and knew that victory would tighten their grip on fourth and increase their chances of qualifying for next season’s Champions League.

Newcastle went ahead after half an hour, though, when Alexander Isak produced a fine finish, before Anthony Gordon doubled their advantage less than two minutes later.

The visitors looked shellshocked and were unable to find their way back into the match, before Isak added his second and Newcastle’s third after the break.

Defender Fabian Schar then added a fourth to complete the rout, denting Spurs’ hopes of finishing in the top four.

Off the pitch, though, the North London outfit have been handed some good news.

Dewsbury-Hall has been hugely impressive in the Championship this term

As per Football Insider, Tottenham could sign Leicester City midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall at a cut-price this summer.

The 25-year-old is enjoying a fine season with the Foxes in the Championship, having scored 12 goals and provided 13 assists in 41 games in the competition this term.

Despite his impressive form for Leicester, the report claims that the Englishman could be available for a fee in the region of £30-40 million this summer, with Spurs one of a number of sides interested in signing him.

However, it is also claimed that Leicester will be desperate to keep hold of the player next year, and will only consider selling him if they fail in their bid to be promoted back to the top flight.

The Foxes had looked certain to lift the second tier title this season, but a run of three defeats in five league games has allowed both Ipswich Town and Leeds United to close the gap they had built.

Dewsbury-Hall is contracted to Leicester until the end of the 2026/27 season.
