The transfer window is now in full swing and Premier League clubs are once again busy looking to bolster their squads ahead of the new season.

Clubs at both ends of the top flight table will be keen to add to their ranks this summer, but they must now also be wary of the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules.

Tottenham Hotspur are one of those clubs that will be looking to add to manager Ange Postecoglou’s squad in the coming weeks, and it has now emerged that the North London club could hijack a move for a Championship star.

According to Ben Jacobs, Tottenham are still in contention to sign Leeds United star Archie Gray, despite the teenager being close to joining Brentford.

Jacobs claims that the Bees had agreed a £40 million move for the 18-year-old defender, but the move is not yet finalised despite a medical being scheduled.

Gray looks likely to leave boyhood club Leeds this summer

With that in mind, the journalist claims that the move could still be hijacked and that the Lilywhites are one of the clubs to keep an eye on in that regard.

Gray is a product of the Whites’ youth academy and is regarded by many as one of the most promising young players in England at present.

The youngster made his senior debut at the start of last season and has now played 52 times for the club across all competitions.

Gray’s contract with Leeds is set to expire in 2028, but the Championship side may have to sell at least one key player this summer in order to avoid breaching P&S rules.

Jacobs claims that selling Gray would solve the club’s concerns in relation to profit and sustainability.
