Nuno Espirito Santo’s start to life as Spurs manager has been anything but plain sailing.

The Portuguese manager’s opening months at the helm of the Tottenham Hotspur stadium has mainly involved swatting away questions regarding Harry Kane, as well as preparing for next season with little knowledge as to who will be around.

Discourse about the England captain has likely had an unsettling effect on the Spurs side, with the 28-year-old striker missing training two days in a row this week.

While Santo would have been boosted about the news of central defender Cristian Romero’s potential move to North London, it is likely the former Wolves manager will be looking forward to the end of the window.

But he could soon be boosted by more new signings, as the London Evening Standard report the Lilywhites could enter the race to sign Danish star Mikkel Damsgaard.

Damsgaard stepped up for the Danes in Euro 2020.

The Sampdoria midfielder played a huge role in Denmark’s run to the semi-finals at Euro 2020, scoring two outstanding goals for the Danes.

One of those was his wonderful free-kick against England at Wembley, giving Denmark the lead in the semi-final clash.

Spurs have already signed Spanish midfielder Bryan Gil as well as goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini.

Damsgaard is believed to be valued around the £50 million mark by the Italian side, so any move for the 21-year-old could be predicated upon Spurs’ ability to shift some players.

However, if Kane is to leave for the £160 million fee chairman Daniel Levy is reported to be demanding, then the Danish star could be another reinforcement for Santo.
