Tottenham Hotspur explored the idea of a last minute move for Crystal Palace’s Wilfred Zaha before the transfer window shut on Thursday, according to reports.

As per The Athletic, Spurs were considering a move for the Ivorian, who has started the season in spectacular fashion for The Eagles.

The forward has scored four goals in four matches so far this term, earning Palace a point at Anfield and victory at home to Aston Villa.

The ex-Manchester United man was linked with several clubs over the course of the summer having impressed over the past six months, with Chelsee another of the clubs linked with a move for the 29-year-old.

It is also claimed that The Lilywhites considered a move for Leeds United winger Dan James, who ultimately joined Fulham on a season-long loan deal.

Spurs were one of the Premier League’s busiest sides this summer, signing a total of seven players as they look to consolidate their place in the top four for another season.

Zaha was a target for Spurs during the window

Ivan Perisic arrived on a free transfer from Inter Milan early in the window, while Yves Bissouma joined from Brighton and Hove Albion shortly after.

Fraser Forster was also signed on a free, while Djed Spence was lured from Middlesbrough, having been in superb form while on loan at Nottingham Forest last season.

Defender Clement Lenglet also joined Antonio Conte’s side, moving from Barcelona on loan.

Christian Romero’s loan move from Atalanta was made permanent, and forward Richarlison also made the move to north London from Everton.

Conte now has a new look side in the capital, although his last minute consideration of a move for Zaha or James implies that the Italian isn’t entirely satisfied with his attacking options.
