Tottenham Hotspur will hope to prolong Liverpool’s search for a second Premier League title when the two sides meet on Sunday afternoon.

The Lilywhites have endured a toddy campaign so far – most recently being beaten 2-1 at home to Nottingham Forest on Monday – and currently sit 16th in the Premier League table.

Spurs’ only chance of qualifying for European competition next term would be by winning the Europa League this season, and Postecoglou will fancy his side’s chances of reaching the final at least as they face Bodo/Glimt in the semis.

Regardless of whether or not Postecoglou can deliver the club’s first trophy in almost two decades, the Australian remains under intense pressure.

Now, it has emerged that those in charge of the club are considering a number of high profile candidates to succeed Postecoglou if they do sack him.

According to GiveMeSport, the North London club are considering audacious attempts to lure Jurgen Klopp, Carlo Ancelotti or Xabi Alonso to replace Postecoglou if he does depart.

Clop enjoyed huge success during his time with Liverpool

Postecoglou joined Spurs ahead of the start of last season and guided the Lilywhites to Europa League qualification, however his side have struggled this term and he therefore finds himself under intense scrutiny.

The report claims that Spurs have decided to plan for a future without Postecoglou at the helm and are keen to make a statement with their next appointment.

With that in mind, the club’s bosses have therefore identified three of Europe’s most high profile managers as potential successors.

Klopp departed Liverpool at the end of last season after a hugely successful spell on Merseyside, while Xabi Alonso guided Bayer Leverkusen to the club’s first ever Bundesliga title last term.

Ancelotti, meanwhile, is one of the most successful managers in the history of European football and is currently in charge of Real Madrid, where he won the La Liga title and Champions League last term.
