Tottenham Hotspur’s inconsistent run of form continued on Thursday as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Scottish side Rangers in the Europa League.

The hosts had gone ahead at Ibrox but forward Dejan Kulusevski equalised to earn Spurs a crucial point in the group phase.

The Lilywhites currently sit ninth in the table at present – one place below Rangers – with only the top eight teams qualifying automatically for the knockout stages of the competition.

If they finish between eighth and 24th, Ange Postecoglou’s side will enter into a play-off for a place in the next round.

Next up for Spurs in the Premier League is a trip to the south coast to face struggling Southampton on Sunday evening.

Ahead of the game, it has emerged that one member of Postecoglou’s squad is set to leave the club next year.

As per GiveMeSport, forward Timo Werner is likely to leave Spurs next summer as the club do not plan to make his loan move permanent.

Werner, 28, initially joined Tottenham on a six-month loan from German side RB Leipzig in January, and he then returned for a further season-long loan spell over the summer.

Werner is set to leave Spurs at the end of the season

The North London outfit do have the opportunity to sign the player permanently, but the report claims that they are not likely to as he has not impressed those in charge.

Werner has scored just three goals in 33 games for the Lilywhites across all competitions, having netted 114 times in 213 games across two spells with former side Leipzig, either side of a stint at Chelsea.

The Germany international was substituted at half-time against Rangers on Thursday, with Postecoglou later citing the player’s level of performance as the reason for his withdrawal.

Instead of signing Werner permanently, Spurs will look to add new signings to Postecoglou’s squad next year, the report claims.
