With the summer transfer window officially opening in just over a fortnight, Premier League clubs are already busy working on potential deals.

All 20 top flight sides will likely be busy during the next few months, with the European Championships in Germany also potentially providing an obstacle as clubs look to get deals done.

Tottenham Hotspur are set to be active in the market, following a reasonably successful first season in charge for Ange Postecoglou.

The Australian guided the Lilywhites to a fifth-placed finish in the Premier League table, and the North London side are now hoping to complete a deal for a forward.

As per The Evening Standard, the Lilywhites are in talks with RB Leipzig with a view to extending Timo Werner’s loan spell by a further 12 months.

Werner looks increasingly likely to stay put at Tottenham for another season

The Germany international joined Spurs on loan from Leipzig in January and made 14 appearances for Postecoglou’s side during the second half of the campaign, scoring two goals and registering three assists.

Werner, 28, was primarily deployed on the left by Postecoglou, but the former Chelsea man is also capable of playing centrally.

Spurs do have the option to sign the German forward permanently for a fee of around £15 million, but the report claims that the North London side are instead hoping to negotiate the extension of his loan deal by one more season.

Since the departure of talisman Harry Kane to German giants Bayern Munich last summer, several players have contributed to Spurs’ attacking threat, with the likes of Werner, Son Heung-Min and Richarlison sharing the goal scoring responsibility in the closing weeks of the recent campaign.
