Tottenham Hotspur will hope to return to winning ways when they face struggling Southampton on Sunday evening.

Ange Postecoglou’s side have been in poor form lately, failing to win any of their last three Premier League matches since a 4-0 win over reigning champions Manchester City last month.

After surrendering a 2-0 lead to succumb to a 4-3 defeat against fierce rivals Chelsea last weekend, the Lilywhites were then held to a 1-1 draw by Scottish side Rangers at Ibrox in the Europa League on Thursday.

Spurs therefore sit 12th in the Premier League table, and are currently ninth in the Europa League standings, with only the top eight teams qualifying automatically for the knockout stages of the competition.

Postecoglou’s side have been without a number of key players in recent weeks, most notably goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, who has been sidelined after having to undergo surgery on an ankle injury.

With the Italian set to be out for some time, it has emerged that Tottenham are eyeing a move for a new ‘keeper.

As per Football Insider, the North London club are looking to add a young goalkeeper from the Football League to their ranks.

The report claims that Spurs are searching for a young ‘keeper from the EFL that they can develop into their first choice in the long-term.

Veteran goalkeeper Fraser Forster, 36, has been playing for Postecoglou’s side in the absence of Vicario, but it appears that they could look to bring in a new recruit when the transfer window reopens in January.

Vicario, 28, joined the Lilywhites from Italian side Empoli last summer and has since kept just 12 clean sheets in 55 games for the club across all competitions, conceding 77 times.

The Italy international has received criticism for a number of costly errors during his time in the capital, but more recently he had started to impress with his displays for Postecoglou’s side.
