Arsenal kept alive their hopes of winning the Premier League title with a 2-0 victory over Luton Town on Wednesday evening.

The Gunners went ahead early on through Martin Odegaard, before a Daiki Hashioka own goal doubled the hosts’ lead at The Emirates.

Manager Mikel Arteta made a number of changes to his side for the visit of the Hatters, with Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice both rested.

The win moves Arsenal back to the top of the table, although they could move back down to second place if Liverpool beat Sheffield United on Thursday.

In the meantime, it appears that the Gunners have been joined by their fiercest rivals in the race to sign a Premier League star.

As per Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur have joined North London rivals Arsenal in showing an interest in Newcastle United star Alexander Isak.

Isak has been linked with a move away from Newcastle this summer

The Swede has been in fine form this season and is regarded as one of the best forwards in the Premier League.

Isak, 24, joined the Magpies from Spanish side Real Sociedad in 2022 and has since made 59 appearances for the club across all competitions, scoring 29 goals.

This season he has netted 19 times in 32 games, but his impressive performances haven’t gone unnoticed and both North London sides are interested in the Sweden international.

The report claims that Newcastle could be forced to sell at least one key player this summer in order to ensure that they adhere to financial fair play and profit and sustainability rules.

If they do so, both Spurs and Arsenal could move for Isak, who is contracted to Newcastle until the end of the 2027/28 season.

Isak is said to be one of a number of targets being considered by Arsenal as they look to sign a new forward, while Spurs have reportedly put aside a significant sum of money in order to land a marquee attacking signing this summer.
