Tottenham Hotspur will be hoping to end their run of three successive defeats when they face Manchester City on Sunday.

The Lilywhites started the current season in sensational form and sat top of the Premier League table after ten matches, but have since lost to Chelsea, Wolves, and Aston Villa.

Those defeats have seen Ange Postecoglou’s side drop down to fifth in the top flight table, and the Australian will be wary of the threat posed by reigning champions City on Sunday.

The Citizens currently occupy second place in the table, having been leapfrogged by Arsenal last week after a 1-1 draw against Liverpool at The Etihad.

In the meantime, Tottenham are said to be chasing an Eredivisie star.

As per Football Insider, the Lilywhites have joined fellow London side Brentford in the race to sign PSV Eindhoven star Johan Bakayoko.

Bakayoko has started the season in superb form

The 20-year-old has been in impressive form so far this season, scoring four goals and providing 12 assists in 23 games across all competitions.

Bakayoko – a winger who primarily operates on the right flank – is a product of PSV’s youth system and has made a total of 60 appearances for his boyhood club.

His performances have attracted interest from both Spurs and the Bees, and the two clubs could battle it out to sign him next year.

The report claims that Brentford have admired the attacker for some time now, and have reignited their interest after initially trying to sign him during the recent summer transfer window.

As well as Bakayoko, Juventus youngster Samuel Iling-Junior is also said to be on Tottenham’s shortlist of attacking targets, with Postecoglou looking to bolster his offensive options at the next opportunity.

Belgian international Bakayoko is currently contracted to Eredivisie leaders PSV until the summer of 2027.
