Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou will be hoping to see his side return to winning ways when they face Aston Villa on Sunday.

The Australian had a remarkable start to his first season in English football, with Spurs sat top of the table and unbeaten after ten matches.

Things have since changed, though, with the Lilywhites beaten by both Chelsea and then Wolves in their final two games prior to the international break.

The Villans will undoubtedly provide a tough test for Spurs, with Unai Emery’s side currently sitting fifth, just a single point below the North London outfit.

In the meantime, Spurs could reportedly terminate the contract of one of their most experienced players.

Lloris hasn’t featured for Spurs this season

According to Football Insider, the club are hoping to reach an agreement with Hugo Lloris to cut short the goalkeeper’s current deal.

The 36-year-old joined Spurs from French side Lyon back in 2012 and went on to make 44 appearances for the club across all competitions, captaining the Lilywhites for several seasons.

He is yet to lift a trophy with Tottenham, though, and it appears that he is unlikely to do so as his contract could soon be terminated.

The Frenchman, who won the World Cup in 2018, is in the final year of his contract but has been frozen out of the first team completely by Postecoglou.

He is yet to feature in a matchday squad this season, and the report claims that the club are hoping to find a solution and agree a pay-off with the veteran ‘keeper.

Over the summer, Lloris was linked with a move to Ligue 1 side Nice, and was also believed to be the subject interest from Saudi Arabian Pro League clubs.

A move never materialised, though, and the Frenchman now faces an uncertain future.

His current contract is believed to earn him around £100,000-per-week.
