England were beaten 1-0 by Iceland in their final match before the European Championships.

The Three Lions went into Friday’s game at Wembley as strong favourites, but found themselves behind early on and managed just one shot on target of their own as they slumped to defeat.

Manager Gareth Southgate will expect to see vast improvement when his side face Serbia in their Euro 2024 opener on Sunday.

In the meantime, one of his players is expected to be the subject of an offer in the near future.

According to Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur are expected to bid for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher soon.

Gallagher will be part of the England squad at this summer’s Euros

The Englishman has established himself as a regular at Stamford Bridge over the past two seasons, but has been heavily linked with a move away and has attracted interest from both Spurs and Aston Villa.

In total he has made 95 appearances for the Blues across all competitions, but the 24-year-old’s current contract is set to expire next summer and Chelsea therefore risk losing him for free.

Negotiations over an extension to his current deal have so far proved unsuccessful, and the report claims that Tottenham have been monitoring the player’s situation and are expected to make an offer for the midfielder soon.

The North London club are said to be long-term admirers of the player, and remain in contact with his representatives with a view to signing him during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Gallagher has emerged as something of a fan favourite at Stamford Bridge, no doubt partly due to his emergence from the club’s fruitful youth academy.
