Tottenham Hotspur have opened talks with our of favour Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford although a deal may prove impossible, according to reports.

As per Caught Offside, Spurs have shown an interest in signing the England international, who scored just five goals in 32 matches across all competitions during the 2021/22 campaign.

The 24-year-old’s poor form has also seen him dropped from Gareth Southgate’s England squad, and he will likely be keen on a move in a bid to guarantee himself regular football ahead of the World Cup in November.

According to the report, the player has a number of clubs interested in his services, including clubs in the Premier League and Europe.

“All the top sides in Spain and Italy have been keen to enquire about Marcus Rashford’s availability and the possibility of him leaving United this summer,” agent Roberto De Fanti is quoted as saying in an exclusive interview.

Rashford could be on his way out of boyhood club United this summer

“Prior to any discussions, a valuation of around £40m, maybe £50m, seemed fair, but it turns out the attacker would cost a lot more – between £70m and £80m.

“United are confident a club is unlikely to pay that, especially off the back of a poor season, so they’re almost certain he will stay. They are happy for Rashford to stay too, also because they know that if they did sell him, they would need to replace him and that is not a priority, definitely not this summer anyway.”

Spurs have already opened discussions over a deal for the player, he says, although they are sceptical of being able to secure a deal.

“It seems there have been some discussions very recently between the player’s camp and Tottenham Hotspur. The London club feel negotiating a deal for Rashford is virtually impossible though – so that transfer no longer seems an option.”

Rashford has scored 93 goals in 303 games for the Red Devils.
