Tottenham Hotspur will hope to keep alive their top four hopes when they face rivals Arsenal in the North London derby at the end of the month.

The Lilywhites’ pursuit of a place in next season’s Champions League was dealt a huge blow when they were defeated 4-0 by Newcastle United on Saturday, allowing Aston Villa to move three points clear of them in fourth.

Arsenal were also beaten lat time out, falling to a 2-0 loss against the Villans to disrupt their own Premier League title charge.

While manager Ange Postecoglou will be desperate to turn his side’s fortunes around, it appears that one of the club’s midfielders could be sold this summer.

As reported by Football Insider, Spurs are prepared to listen to offers for Bryan Gil during the upcoming transfer window.

The Spaniard first arrived in London in 2021, joining Tottenham from Spanish side Sevilla.

Gil could leave Tottenham this summer

He struggled to establish himself as a regular for Tottenham, and spent the second half of the 2021/22 campaign on loan at Valencia, before returning to Sevilla on a six-month loan in January last year.

In total the midfielder has played 42 times for the Lilywhites across all competitions, providing two assist but failing to score a single goal.

The player’s contract is set to run until the end of the 2025/26 season, but the report claims that Tottenham regard him as surplus to requirements and are therefore willing to sell him for the right price.

This season Gil has played just 11 times across all competitions, starting only two Premier League matches.

Gil himself is said to be frustrated with his current situation and is therefore open to the idea of leaving Spurs, with a return to his homeland said to be the most likely solution at present.
