Tottenham Hotspur suffered a second successive Premier League defeat on Saturday as they were beaten 2-1 by Wolves at Molineux.

Ange Postecoglou’s side had been unbeaten in the league so far this season until a 4-1 defeat against rivals Chelsea on Monday, but they could now find themselves four points behind leaders Manchester City if the Citizens beat Chelsea on Sunday.

Spurs had gone ahead against Wolves through Brennan Johnson, before late goals from Pablo Sarabia and Mario Lemina earned Gary O’Neil’s side a stunning comeback victory.

Postecoglou was forced to make a number of changes to his side with both injuries and suspensions causing issues, and it appears that Tottenham could now look to a Chelsea defender in a bid to bolster their backline.

As per Football Insider, the Lilywhites could make a move for Blues defender Trevoh Chalobah during the January transfer window.

Chalobah has emerged as a surprise target for Tottenham

The 24-year-old has been identified as a possible target for the new year as they look to replace Micky van de Ven, who was forced off injured against Chelsea last week.

Chalobah is a product of Chelsea’s fruitful youth academy and has made a total of 63 appearances for his boyhood club, but is yet to feature this season since the arrival of Pochettino over the summer.

The Englishman is behind the likes of Thiago Silva, Axel Disasi, and Levi Colwill in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge and has therefore been heavily linked with a move away from West London.

During the recent summer transfer window, Chalobah was linked with a number of clubs including German champions Bayern Munich, who are now managed by former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel.

While Chelsea are believed to be open to the idea of selling the centre-back, it remains to be seen whether or not they would allow him to join one of their most bitter rivals.
