Tottenham Hotspur will have to overcome a 1-0 first leg defeat when they face AZ Alkmaar in the second leg of their last 16 tie on Thursday night.

The Lilywhites were beaten 1-0 in the Netherlands last week, and Ange Postecoglou’s side will therefore have to overturn that deficit if they are to progress to the last eight of the competition and keep their hopes of lifting the trophy alive.

Spurs will have been boosted by their 2-2 draw against high-flying Bournemouth on Sunday, with Postecoglou’s side coming from 2-0 down to rescue a point.

Forward Mathys Tel was an unused substitute for Spurs for the first time since joining the club in January.

The Frenchman is on loan from German side Bayern Munich until the end of the current season, but the North London outfit could attempt to agree a permanent deal for the forward when the transfer window reopens.

Now, it appears that Spurs could also be offered another Bayern star.

According to GiveMeSport, Tottenham could be offered the chance to sign Bayern forward Kingsley Coman during negotiations over a permanent deal for Tel this summer.

Coman could be offered to Tottenham this summer

Coman, 28, has enjoyed enormous success since joining Bayern from Juventus in 2015.

The French winger has scored 69 goals and registered 62 assists in 327 matches across all competitions for the German giants, as well as winning 20 trophies during his time in Germany.

Spurs have the option to purchase Tel for a fee of £45 million as part of the loan agreement that was reached in January, but the report claims that Bayern are looking to offload Coman and could therefore offer the France international to the North London side.

Coman’s current contract with the Lilywhites is set to run until 2027, but the Bundesliga giants are said to be keen to allow the player to embark on a fresh challenge ahead of next term.
