A late goal by Dejan Kulusevski earned Tottenham Hotspur a crucial point against Manchester City at The Etihad on Sunday.

The visitors had gone ahead early on through captain Son Heung-Min, before the forward then put through his own net to level things up just minutes later.

City then took the lead when Phil Foden finished off a well-worked team move, before Giovani Lo Celso’s long-range effort made it 2-2 after the break.

The hosts then went ahead for a second time when Jack Grealish converted an Erling Haaland cross, but there was still time for Spurs to snatch a point courtesy of Kulusevski’s late header.

The result leaves City third in the table, behind both Arsenal and Liverpool, while the Lilywhites sit fifth.

Ange Postecoglou was without a number of key players for the trip to Manchester, including James Maddison, Micky van de Ven, and Cristian Romero.

Another player that was absent was Eric Dier, and it appears that the Englishman could leave North London next year.

As per TalkSPORT, the centre-back could make a sensational return to former club Sporting CP next year.

Dier could leave Tottenham next year

The 29-year-old’s current contract is set to expire at the end of the current season, and he is therefore able to sign a pre-contract agreement with any foreign club in January.

With that in mind, the report claims that Dier is considering making a shock return to the Portuguese side, nine years after leaving.

Having graduated through Sporting’s youth system, Dier joined Spurs in 2014 and has since made more than 360 appearances for the club across all competitions.

He had fallen out of favour when Postecoglou arrived in the summer, but has featured twice in Tottenham’s last four league games in the absence of Van de Ven and Romero.

The report claims that, while Dier was offered to other Premier League clubs over the summer, the player’s preference is to move abroad.
