Tottenham Hotspur return to action when they travel to face Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Ange Postecoglou’s side were victorious last time out, beating Burnley 1-0 in the FA Cup third round courtesy of Pedro Porro’s stunning late strike.

The Australian will hope that his side can continue their recent good form when they travel to Manchester, with the Red Devils having struggled so far this season.

Ahead of the match, the Lilywhites are reportedly stepping up their interest in a Championship sensation.

According to Football Insider, both Spurs and fellow Premier League side Everton are interested in Blackburn Rovers midfielder Adam Wharton.

The 19-year-old is a product of Rovers’ youth academy and has played a total of 49 times across all competitions at senior level for his boyhood club.

Wharton has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs

Wharton, who plays alongside his older brother Scott, enjoyed a breakthrough campaign last term, making 18 Championship appearances for the Ewood Park side.

The midfielder has been watched several times by scouts from Tottenham, the report claims, while both the Toffees and Crystal Palace have also shown an interest in the teenager.

It is also claimed that those in charge of Spurs’ recruitment are of the opinion that Wharton is a star in the making.

Wharton signed a new contract with Rovers last month, which is set to run until 2028.

The report claims that a move this month is therefore unlikely, suggesting that Tottenham could make an attempt to sign the midfielder during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Wharton, who typically plays in a defensive midfield role but is also capable of operating in more advanced areas, has been capped twice by England at under-20 level.
