Tottenham Hotspur left it late to defeat Brighton and Hove Albion and stay in the top four on Saturday.

Having fallen behind early on, Spurs drew level through Pape Matar Sarr in the second half, before forward Brennan Johnson grabbed the winner deep into added time.

The result keeps Ange Postecoglou’s side in fourth place in the Premier League table as they look to cement a place in next season’s Champions League.

Now, though, it has emerged that the North London club are planning a huge move this summer.

According to Football Insider, Tottenham are plotting a marquee striker signing this summer, to replace former talisman Harry Kane.

The England captain departed Spurs to join German giants Bayern Munich last summer, and the Premier League side haven’t yet replaced him.

Richarlison and Brennan Johnson have been in fine form of late

In total, Kane netted a remarkable 278 goals in 430 matches for the Lilywhites across all competitions, and Tottenham are therefore set to sign a replacement at the end of the current campaign.

Brazilian forward Richarlison – signed from Everton in 2022 – struggled during his first season in London but has been in sensational form of late, netting nine times in his last nine Premier League matches.

Club captain Son Heung-Min has also impressed since Kane’s departure, scoring 12 times in 22 games across all competitions before departing for the Asia Cup last month.

The report claims that Brentford star Ivan Toney, who has recently returned from a lengthy ban for breaching FA betting rules, could be a potential target for the Lilywhites.

However, the England international has also attracted interest from the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal and could therefore be tricky to finalise a move for.
