A new era at Spurs is upon North London.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s appointment could prove to be a bit of a revolution for the Lilywhites with his exciting and defined brand of counter-attacking football.

The Portuguese manager took over Wolves when they were in their Championship and went on to establish them as a strong Premier League side, before taking them all the way to the quarter finals of the Europa League.

Much of Santo’s success and experience was down to the qualities of key midfielders Joao Moutinho, Ruben Neves and Leander Dendoncker.

These three midfielders were vitally important to maintaining Wolves’ status as a powerful and dangerous Premier League side.

Santo knows first hand the importance of an astute, but yet creative midfield and according to Sport (via Sport Witness), the new boss is very interested in bringing Barcelona midfielder Miralem Pjanic to the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

Pjanic’s move to Barcelona did not go to plan.

Pjanic moved to the Nou Camp in a bizarre swap deal involving Arthur in June last year.

Unfortunately, Barcelona’s turgid financial situation means they are looking to move on lots of high earners, and the Bosnian midfielder will likely be a sacrificial lamb.

Pjanic made 214 appearances for his previous club Juventus and became one of the finest midfielders in European football.

He will bring leadership, creativity, experience and quality to a side and Santo could very well see the midfielder as the perfect holding midfielder to build around.

It is also likely he would be available on the cheap due to the Catalans’ desperate situation, and we all know how much Daniel Levy loves a bargain.
