Tottenham Hotspur secured their place in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Saturday by beating League One Portsmouth 1-0.

Harry Kane’s second half goal was enough to give the Lilywhites victory and ensure that they are in the hat for the fourth round draw, which takes place on Sunday afternoon.

Spurs boss Antonio Conte named a strong line up for the visit of Pompey, perhaps an indication of his desire to take the FA Cup seriously this term.

The likes of Kane, Son Heung-Min and Ben Davies all started the game, although club captain Hugo Lloris was named among the substitutes.

The Frenchman remains Spurs’ first choice goalkeeper, but it appears that the club may be searching for his replacement.

According to The Mirror, the north London side are considering a possible move for England ‘keeper Jordan Pickford in the summer.

The report claims that Spurs could move for the Everton shot-stopper, whose deal expires in 2024, at the same time as Lloris’.

Spurs are hoping to make Pickford the successor to Lloris’ starting spot

Tottenham could therefore look to sign Pickford this summer with a view to him replacing Lloris, with the France international very unlikely to stay with the club beyond 2024.

Lloris has spent a decade with Spurs – making more than 430 appearances – although he is yet to win a trophy with the club.

Pickford, meanwhile, has been Everton’s number one ever since joining the club from Sunderland in 2017.

He has kept 57 clean sheets in 217 games for The Toffees since then, as well as being England’s starting ‘keeper at each of the past three major tournaments.

Spurs’ London rivals Chelsea are also said to have registered an interest in Pickford, who cost Everton £25 million when he signed from The Black Cats five years ago.

The Blues have had their own goalkeeping problems over the past few seasons, with both Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy having failed to maintain the number one position at Stamford Bridge.
