Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou will be hoping to see his side move into the Premier League’s top four when they face Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.

The Lilywhites currently sit fifth, one place and one point behind North London rivals Arsenal, but victory over the Red Devils would see Tottenham move fourth at least until the Gunners’ next game on January 20.

Ahead of the match, Tottenham have reportedly been quoted a significant fee to sign a Premier League midfielder on loan.

As per Football Insider, Spurs would have to pay a fee in the region of £5-6 million to sign Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Philips on loan.

The Englishman joined City from boyhood club Leeds United in the summer of 2022 but has endured a difficult spell at The Etihad so far.

In total Phillips has made just 31 appearances across all competitions, including just ten so far this season.

Phillips is a target for fellow Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur

Phillips’ severe lack of playing time has prompted the central midfielder to be heavily linked with a move away from The Etihad, and Spurs are one of a number of clubs said to be interested in signing him.

The Lilywhites are said to be on the hunt for reinforcements in midfield, and the 28-year-old England international is one of the players being considered by the North London outfit.

A deal would likely see Phillips join Spurs on loan for the remainder of the current campaign, but it remains to be seen whether or not the agreement would include an option-to-buy clause.

Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is another player that has been heavily linked with a move to Spurs, but the Englishman’s importance to current Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino could make that proposed move difficult to complete.
