Rotherham United striker Matt Derbyshire has emerged as Steve Evans’ first transfer target as Leeds United manager.

Reports suggest the 52-year-old is ready to return to his former club to snap up the ex-England Under-21 international on a loan deal.

Derbyshire, 29, who arrived at the New York Stadium from Nottingham Forest only last May, has scored twice in 12 league appearances for the struggling Championship outfit so far this season.

Manager Evans is thought to be eager to bolster his attacking options since taking over from former boss Uwe Rosler at Elland Road earlier this week, with fellow forward Lee Erwin also being linked with a return from his loan spell at Bury.
