Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard believes Chelsea are “looking like they are going to be champions” after recording 11 successive Premier League victories.

The 36-year-old, who won three League Cups, two FA Cups, the Champions League and the UEFA Cup with top-flight rivals Liverpool between 1998 and 2015, was speaking exclusively to BT Sport following The Blues’ latest 1-0 victory at Crystal Palace on Saturday.

“Sixteenth in the League this time last year, and I think you had a group of players who weren’t playing properly for the manager. They weren’t turning up,” he said.

“Your big players weren’t producing the goods week in, week out.

“A year on, you have got all of your big stars in top form. The fans are happy, all the players are smiling and you have got a terrific manager [Antonio Conte].

“At the moment, they are looking like they are going to be champions.”

Conte’s Chelsea currently sit seven points clear at the top of the Premier League standings and face AFC Bournemouth next at Stamford Bridge on Boxing Day (December 26).
