Stoke City are closely monitoring Liechtenstein international midfielder Marcel Buchel, according to the Stoke Sentinel.

The Premier League side, who knocked out League One Doncaster Rovers in the FA Cup on Saturday, are thought to be chasing a loan deal for the Juventus player during this month’s transfer window.

The 24-year-old, who has two international caps for his country, has scored twice in 13 league appearances whilst on loan at fellow Serie A outfit Empoli this season.

Buchel, who was originally born in Austria, could become Potters boss Mark Hughes’ first January addition.
