Name: Marko Arnautovic
Not the easiest of tasks picking out a ‘star’ performer from Stoke City’s squad last month; two 3-0 defeats to the hands of Manchester United and Everton respectively deflated Mark Hughes’ men February, but Marko Arnautovic takes home the award after last weekend’s brace against Aston Villa.
The 26-year-old, who has 48 international caps for Austria and will star for his home country at this summer’s 2016 UEFA European Championships in France, is the Potters’ Premier League top goalscorer this season with nine strikes – four ahead of second-placed striker Bojan.
Arnautovic, who arrived at the Brittania Stadium from Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen in a deal worth around £2m back in September 2013, netted his eighth and ninth league goals of the campaign with a second-half brace to heap more misery on the rock-bottom Villans last Saturday in the host’s 2-1 win.
After their initial heavy defeats to United and Everton; at least Arnautovic’s double lifted those sorry Stoke spirits ahead of March’s opener against Newcastle United on Wednesday night.
