A few days ago, Mark Hughes cut a happy, almost bullish figure, as he complimented his side following a 0-0 draw at the Etihad Stadium against a Manchester City team that had cost many times more than The Potters, but it was a different story for the Stoke City youngsters who were thrashed 6-0 in the FA Youth Cup, reports the Manchester Evening News.

City took a huge step towards the final, after their Under-18s put the visitors to the sword in a one-sided display, leaving The Potters it all to do in the return leg next month.

Stoke fans shouldn’t be too despondent, as despite the scoreline, The Potters had their moments, twice hitting the woodwork in the first-half from their dangerous strike duo of Jordan Greenidge and Tyrese Campbell.

Although it’s almost impossible for Stoke to get to the final, they can take solace from a good cup run and the fact they have some impressive youngsters who could be giving Hughes something to think about over the next few seasons.
