Giannelli Imbula could be on his way out of the Britannia Stadium after Mark Hughes confirmed he’s open to offers for the Potters record signing.

“It’s fair to say it hasn’t quite worked out as any of us would have wanted. It’s fair to say if there was interest in Gianelli from other parties, then maybe we’d consider that,” Hughes said.

“Obviously, it would have to be suitable for ourselves and the player himself. We haven’t had any interest – only speculation.

Some of that speculation centres around Roma who are rumoured to be interested in the midfielder but would have to put a bid in that recouped some of the £18.3 million the Potters paid Porto for his services in January 2016.

Imbula has struggled to make an impact at the Britannia Stadium and Hughes may want to offload the 24 year old to bring in funds for other targets this summer.

One player who won’t be joining Stoke is Leeds United defender Charlie Taylor who recently refused to play for his club, Hughes confirmed the player is not one of his targets.

Stoke fans have been reacting on social media to the news Imbula may be on his way:

Can’t help but feel Imbula will be a top class player next season if he’s sold#SCFC

@mattsandoz1 He intially looked a great player who lost his way for a while and hasn’t really been given a chance since.

@mattsandoz1 He need to be given another chance and not sold for 10 million in the summer, we should build a team around him

@mattsandoz1 Think there is blame on both sides: we haven’t given him enough game time but he hasn’t helped himself not integrating with the squad

@mattsandoz1 We must have watched him for months so not to rate him is weird,we don’t see what go’s on a daily basis and what his attitude is like #SCFC
