Stoke City are considering a move for Darren Fletcher.

According to a report in the Birmingham Mail Mark Hughes is ready to make a move for the out of contract West Brom skipper.

Fletcher has been an integral part of the success that Tony Pulis has brought to the Baggies but has been unable to convince the midfielder to put pen to paper on a new contract.

Despite illness and injury at Manchester United the 33-year-old has been a virtual ever present since moving to the Hawthorns.

Fletcher spent 15 years at Old Trafford where his attitude was as impressive as his ability and performances with his recovery from illness earning praise from across the game.

Despite looking to lower the average age of his squad Hughes would love to bring the quality of Fletcher to the Potteries but no decision is likely until after Scotland face England next weekend in a World Cup qualifier at Hampden.
