Stoke are set to offer Ryan Shawcross a new 12 month contract.

According to a report in the Daily Mail the midfielder, who is out of contract next summer, is set to be offered a fresh deal once the current campaign ends.

After a difficult time last term through injuries Shawcross has been back to his best and is in line to extent his stay in the potteries into a 12th season.

Newcastle are one of a number of clubs who’ve been keeping tabs on the midfielder this season and expected to put in an offer once the transfer window opens.

Rafa Benitez is keen to bring in top flight experience to help his side next season with Shawcross able to draw on over 300 Premier League appearances.

Stoke are likely to make a number of changes during the summer to lower the average age of their squad but the 29-year-old has been assured that he has a future under Mark Hughes.
