Sunderland are reportedly eyeing a move for Olympiacos full-back Arthur Masuaku.

The Premier League side, who sit second from bottom in the league table following Saturday’s 1-0 defeat against Southampton, are keen to bolster their defensive ranks in a bid to stave off relegation at the end of the campaign.

The 22-year-old, who is a former France Under-18 and Under-19 international, has scored one goal in 12 appearances in all competitions for the Greek outfit so far this season.

Black Cats boss Sam Allardyce is thought to have sent to scouts to watch the defender in action during Olympiacos’ Champions League win over Dinamo Zagreb last week.

However Sunderland may face stiff competition from Italian giants Inter Milan, Juventus and Roma for Masuaku’s signature during the forthcoming January transfer window.
