Getting the manager’s job at Manchester United should have been a dream for David Moyes but ever since he was sacked from the Old Trafford job three years ago his career has been on almost unstoppable downward trajectory.
Being let go from United after a poor run that saw the perennial title challengers miss out on the top four was followed by a brief stint as Real Sociedad manager which failed to offer the salvation Moyes was looking for.
Sunderland should have represented the chance for Moyes to redeem himself, a club with limited resources but a strong fan base and respected history and more importantly, a Premier League side, after all few managers in football history have managed more games in the Premier League.
It’s not worked out as redemption though and the weekend’s 2-2 draw with West Ham United has done very little to boost the Black Cats chances of survival and despite the Sunderland board claiming Moyes will be allowed to continue as manager should the club be relegated, the fans are getting increasingly restless.
Here’s how Sunderland fans responded on social media to the latest result:

@guardian_sport Was delighted with the appointment originally but he’s as bad as Howard Wilkinson. Even Mick Mcarthy’s teams showed more fight
