Dwight Yorke has set his sights on managing his former club Sunderland according to the latest reports, hoping he can be the man to bring the Black Cats back to the Premier League.

David Moyes is expected to remain at the club next season despite a disappointing campaign that saw Sunderland relegated with games to spare and a severe lack of goals which had seen them with one of lowest goal tallies in Premier League history.

The fans have turned on Moyes with many venting their frustration not just at the club’s awful league position, dour football and poor transfer policy but also the manager’s inability to connect with supporters – even disappearing down the tunnel after the recent loss to Swansea City without acknowledging the fans.

Dwight Yorke has admitted he’d like the chance to manage at the Stadium of Light noting:

“If the opportunity comes to manage such a great club as Sunderland, having played at the football  club, having seen what the fans are like, and the expectations, it is a very big club.”

“There’s no two ways about that, it’s a terrific job.”
